Event Comment: At Warner's Booth, Bowling Green. By a Company of Comedians from the Theatres. To begin each day at twelve o'clock and end at ten p.m. during the time of Southwark Fair. The Booth is made very Theatrical and Commodious for the reception of Gentlemen and Ladies, and a good band of music provided consisting of violins, Bassoons, Hautboys, &c. Event Comment: To the Printer of the Public Advertiser: Sir, On seeing the Burletta of Galligantus at the little theatre in the Haymarket, I was agreeably surprised to see a performance of the kind carried on in so genteel a manner, no way inferior to any opera; and after the nicest inspection of the whole performance, I have the pleasure to inform the Nobility, Gentry, &c., I found all the performers were English, their Dresses very completely adapted, their voices excellent, and their actions quite genteel and comic, their music charming and set without the assistance of any Foreigner, it being composed by Mr J@@D@@, a Native of Ireland, whose excellency in that art needs no encomium. (Upper Gallery 3s. 6d.) 3428 helpless women have already been received and preserved, besides 800 out-patients supplied with medicine &c. and many soldiers' and seamens' wives have been taken out of the streets penniless, starving and with Labour pains upon them and admitted at several hours of the night or day without any letter or recommendation whatever. [Long advertisement in Public Advertiser for all to support this charity and at the same time have the "opportunity of seeing a very pleasing Burletta."
