Event Comment: Mainpiece: By Particular Desire. Afterpiece: With an Additional Scene painted by Cipriani, Representing the taking of the Bohemian Standard at the Battle of Cressyv. In memory of which, the Princes of Wales have ever since borne three Ostrich Feathers (the Bohemian Standard) as their crest, with the original motto Ich Dien. This scene is pleasingly executed and has a very good effect, and is the work of that celebrated artist Cipriani (Theatrical Review, II, p. 36). Paid Whitefield a Bill for making cloaths #30 8s. 7d. "Last night Cipriani personating a Frenchman, appeared with the national cockade in his hat; the audience expressed their disapprobation by violent hissing, and the actor was obliged to cast down his hat, which a gentleman behind the scenes took up, and tearing out the offensive ensign of sedition, threw it away--the audience warmly applauding" (Morning Herald, 16 May)

Signor Farinello humbly hopes, that the Subscribers will not make use of their Tickets on this Occasion. The Stage will be in the same Manner as in the Assembly with a great Number of Benches. Mrs Pendarves to Mrs Granville, 15 March: Tonight is Farinelli's benefit; all the polite world will flock there, and go at four o'clock, for fear they should not be time enough. I don't love mobbing, and so I shall leave them to themselves. Daily Advertiser, 13 March: 'Tis expected that Signor Farinelli will have the greatest Appearance on Saturday that has been known.
