The London Stage Database team will be retiring the Legacy Search on May 1, 2025. Please take a moment before that date to reproduce any pre-2021 searches and export any resulting datasets you may wish to preserve for future use. We are making this change in order to free up computational resources for new features and data, currently in development with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. June 1684

Event Information
Theatre: Dorset Garden Theatre
Theatrical Season: 1682-1683
Volume: 1
Comments: The United Company. The date of the first performance is not certain, but Luttrell dated his copy of the separately-printed Prologue and Epilogue 4 June 1684 (Bindley Collection, William Andrews Clark@Jr@Library). Ordinarily the broadside prologues and epilogues appear to have been available shortly after the premier; hence, it is likely that this play appeared in the first week of June 1684. The Prologue and Epilogue are reprinted in Wiley, Rare Prologues and Epilogues, pp. 211-14
